Thanksgiving and Thanksgrieving

As we gather for Thanksgiving, it’s important to hold space for both gratitude and grief. For many, this holiday is a time of joy and reflection, but for others—especially Indigenous peoples—it is a reminder of loss, colonization, and historical trauma. In this service, we will honor both Thanksgiving and “Thanksgrieving,” acknowledging the complexity of this holiday. From a Unitarian Universalist lens, we will practice gratitude while also facing the difficult truths of our shared history. Let us find a path toward healing, justice, and reconciliation.
