National Day of Transgender Remembrance

“Transgender Day of Remembrance” (TDOR) occurs every November 20th to honor those lost to transphobia and anti-transgender violence. Advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith founded the day in 1999 following the murders of Chanelle Pickett in 1995 and Rita Hester in 1998. The annual event draws vital attention to ongoing violence against the transgender community, which disproportionately impacts women of color. Today, our local panel of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming individuals will share their personal experiences and what TDOR means to them.

Patty Delp will be our guest speaker for today’s service.
