Building Community: Playing Indian in Yavapai-Apache Sacred Spaces

This talk will address the New Age and Indigenous-inspired spirituality that is common in Sedona and the Verde Valley.  This form of spirituality, while well-intentioned, may ignore the historic and cultural values of local Indigenous peoples. Dr. Crandall, a professor at ASU, hopes to propose ways that such spirituality – inspired by the beauty of the land – can be deployed in an ethical manner that does not harm Yavapai-Apaches.

Please join us for our “Building Community” Summer Series each Sunday this July and August at the JCSVV, 100 Meadowlark Drive.

Rev. Anthony is taking two months leave for vacation and study time that is provided to all full-time UU ministers. Music Director Susannah Martin is also enjoying a well-deserved summer break. Both will return to our weekly services in September.
