May Day Strong
May Day Strong
May 1, 2025 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Jamesen Memorial Park, 25 Northview Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336, USA
Across the country—working people are rising up. We are demanding a country that puts our families over their fortunes—public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, housing over homelessness.A race to the bottom on wages, on benefits, on dignity itself is being created by Musk and Trump. They want to erase labor rights, break our unions, and silence immigrant voices.May Day 2025 we are fighting back! We want a world where every family has housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status. Our schools are being defunded, public services are being privatized, our unions are being attacked, and immigrant families are being attacked with fear and violence. This is a war on working people—and we will not stand down! This day of action is just the beginning. We're organizing not just for one day, but to build power in every neighborhood, on every shop floor, and in every school. This May Day, we will turn the page. Working families will lead! Immigrants will be protected! No one will be left behind. This is not a request. We are reclaiming our power from corporate elites, and we will not be intimidated by Trump, Musk, or their billionaire backers. They’ve ruled for too long. Their time is up.Join Us! Indivisible Sedona, After the March Indivisible, DORR, Verde Valley Dems, Indivisible Rimrock, Camp Verde Indivisible, Indivisible Cottonwood, Cornville, Clarkdale! Friendly Feasts
Friendly Feasts
May 17, 2025
Friendly Feasts are such fun—food, friendship, and frivolity–all in oneevening! They build community by getting to know other SUUFers over food andconversation.
Anyone can attend a Friendly Feast throughout the year –you do not have to be a host in return!
Hosting means providing a main course and asking the attendees to bring sidedishes. The number of people is determined by you, usually between 4-6 otherfolks. Feasts can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner – whatever works best for you.
This month’s Feasts takes place on Saturday, May 17. Having 3 hosthouses per month is ideal. There is still one more opening for a host housein May, and we are now opening up June to accommodate more Friendly Feasts.
It is easy to sign up as a host or an attendee in the lobby on Sundays. Attendee signup sheets usually appearat the beginning of each month for that month’s Feasts.
Please contact Suzanne Burkey at sfburkey47@gmail.com or (309) 635-6681 to ask questions aboutFriendly Feasts or to sign up as a host.

May’s “Share the Plate” offering will go to Sedona Recycles. You may not realize that Sedona Recycles was named the “Best Sustainability Minded Non-Profit” in theState of Arizona in 2024. They have been keeping the red rocks green since 1989 and in 2024, they diverted813 tons of recyclables from the landfill. They offer educational programs and advocate for the “reduce, reuse, recycle” mindset. They are currently in critical need of raising money to purchase a new baler, whichcompacts recyclables into transportable bales (the backbone of their operation). Your generosity on May 25 for “Share the Plate” will be greatly appreciated.

Social Justice Interfaith Film
Social Justice Interfaith Film
May 30, 2025 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
New Room, 110 Indian Cliffs Rd, Sedona, AZ, 86336
The SJ team has substituted SUUFs usual film discussion date with a film made availableto the public for free by Sedona Indivisible’s LGBTQ + Action group. The showing, anddiscussion after, will take place on Friday, May 30, from 3:30-5:30pm at Sedona UnitedMethodist Church, 110 Indian Cliffs Road.
The Bystander Moment is a 49-minute documentary, produced by The Media Education Foundation and features interviews with Jackson Katz, an expert on gender violence prevention and leadership training. While The Bystander Moment primarily focuses on how to address cultures that are conducive to violence against women, the film also speaks to how homophobia silences men who take a stand against the sexualization or mistreatment of women. Ultimately, the message of The Bystander Moment is a hopeful one. We all have the capacity to change our culture, in daily ways! Thinking about how to be a better bystander has rarely been as important in the United States. As our political climate is increasingly hostile towards immigrants, people of color, trans people and other members of the LGBTQ community, practicing good bystander behavior will be ever more important to keeping our community healthy and safe for people of all backgrounds. This film is being made available to the Verde Valley community for free by Sedona Indivisible’s LGBTQ + Action group. Everyone who cares about creating a safer community is welcome to attend. Bystander Moment will be followed by small group discussions and role plays of how we can collectively create a safer, more inclusive culture in Sedona.
