The underlying mechanism for ‘persistent possibility’ is perseverance. A people or community cannot persevere. Each individual perseveres and the community and people emerge as a result. Each snowflake that falls joins others that were there. They form the mountain of snow that eventually rushes down as an avalanche. The community of UU that holds to the principle of social justice for all cradles the new arrivals and blankets those who arrived before. They quietly persist until the possibility becomes a probability and the probability becomes the event. But at the heart of it is the individual who quietly perseveres.
