Dr. Paul Friedman (SUUF Member, Educator)
This timely talk is tailored to the outcome of our election and the need to become a united country again. Esteemed Sedona community member and veteran OLLI (Osher Life Learning Institute) educator, Paul Friedman, calls upon points from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address and its relevant inclusion of our first five UU principles. Charles Schulz and John Lennon/Paul McCartney of the Beatles are also used as sources for the program.
Paul Friedman and Tanya Mayer have lived in Sedona for 15 years, retiring here after completing their teaching careers in Lawrence, KS. Paul’s major concern is building bridges among people with different backgrounds and viewpoints. He was recently awarded the Arizona Community Foundation’s “2020 Spirit of Sedona Award” for “Community Collaborator of the Year.” Tanya tutors Hispanic children and adults in improving their ability to read and speak English, and she volunteers at the Sedona Food Bank. They are new and grateful members of the Sedona UU Fellowship.
