November is National<\/b>\u00a0American Indian Heritage Month.<\/b><\/div>\n
This Sunday we welcome our\u00a0guest speaker, S.D. Nelson<\/strong> (Steve), a new member of SUUF. \u00a0In his talk he will share his own background and experiences and focus as well on Native American life and the vision of Black Elk.<\/div>\n
\n

Steve is the author and illustrator of numerous award-winning Native American children’s books.\u00a0 He has a diverse ethnic background, descended from Norse and American Indian heritage\u00a0and is an enrolled\u00a0member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in the\u00a0Dakotas. His acrylic\u00a0paintings\u00a0are held in many permanent\u00a0collections.<\/p>\n

After the service, please join us in the Social Hall for coffee hour.<\/p>\n

We’ll gather around the outer tables and participate in our first “Listening Circle,” passing the microphone as leaders from our Leadership Retreat, held Oct. 4-5, share ideas from the retreat.\u00a0 Congregants are invited to share their responses.\u00a0 See Donna Fox’s report on the retreat in November’s issue of The Flame for more information.<\/p>\n
