Something larger, much grander and wiser than themselves, exists.\u00a0\u00a0But what is that &#8220;something larger&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Their answers vary, depending on their individual theology.\u00a0 Some believe what\u2019s larger is the integrated wisdom drawn from seekers&#8217; spiritual explorations.<\/p>\n<p>Some believe it&#8217;s whatever lies within and beyond scientific understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Some believe it\u2019s a divine force that thrums through the cosmos.\u00a0\u00a0They wonder: Is it God? Is it a collective unconscious? Or is it something beyond their comprehension?<\/p>\n<p>While UUs have different ideas about how they fit into the larger whole, they agree that worship is their shared practice of exploring, connecting to, and even creating that wholeness.<\/p>\n<p>To one UU minister, worship is &#8220;defined not by a consensus on theological questions; but by a community paying attention and searching together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another says, \u201cTo us, \u2018We worship\u2026\u2019, by itself, is a full sentence and a powerful one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By encountering and engaging with that which is greater, wiser, stronger, and more compassionate than their individual selves, UUs\u00a0 place themselves in a crucible for their own transformation and healing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do Unitarian Universalists worship?\u00a0 They know they are not at the center of the universe.
