Evolving Elders<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

EE meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, \"\"from 10:30 to noon, in member homes. It\u2019s a friendly gathering led by group members which focuses on topics suggested by the group.\u00a0 Sometimes funny, sometimes nostalgic, other times informative\u2014and always interesting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Book Group<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

The SUUF book group, which started in the spring of 2022, meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 10:30 in West Sedona.\u00a0 A book group sometimes also meets in the Village of Oak Creek.\u00a0 A new book, recommended by members and chosen by our minister, is discussed every two months.\u00a0 Discussions are member-led and the topics often deal with justice and marginalized groups.\u00a0 The September\/October selection is Nice Racism:\u00a0 How Progressive White People Perpetuate Racial Harm<\/span> by Robin D’Angelo.\u00a0 It will be facilitated by Rev. Anthony and be held in the home of Jim and Pat Loomis.<\/p>\n

Past selections have included Caste<\/span>, An Indigenous People’s History of the United States<\/span>, Defund Fear<\/span>, The Four Pivots<\/span>, The Healing Wisdom of Africa, Social Justice for the Sensitive Soul<\/span><\/u> and more. We endeavor to educate ourselves and to consider what justice actions we might undertake.\u00a0 Sign-up sheets for book group participants are in the lobby at SUUF services, or you can email <\/em>president@sedonauu.org<\/em><\/a> to indicate interest.<\/em><\/p>\n

Friendly Feasts\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Enjoy Fantastic Meals? Stimulating Conversations? Charming Dining Companions? <\/span><\/h4>\n

Our Friendly Feasts are dinners generally held once a month at members\u2019 homes, October through April. These small group gatherings provide another way to get to know each other in a casual and warm atmosphere. The designated hosts let attendees know what dish to bring to accompany the host\u2019s entree. Interesting conversation and laughter are also on the menu! SUUF Soul Matters Circles<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Like Friendly Feasts…More Like Food for the Soul<\/strong><\/p>\n

Soul Matters Circles are monthly intimate small group gatherings in the homes of SUUF members which began meeting in February of 2024 with three circles meeting in three different locations and times.\u00a0 They are designed to grow our spiritual depth and deepen our relationship with ourselves and one another. The popular UUA program\u2019s materials and resources are used in UU groups throughout the country.\u00a0 Facilitators have been trained by UUA to effectively lead the Circles.\u00a0 Contact Lydia at lydiadelaluz@aol.com<\/a>, for more information.\u00a0 Sign up sheets for Sharing Circles will be available in the lobby when new circles are ready to begin.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s Breakfast Group meets at the Sedona Golf Resort in VOC the 2nd Wednesday<\/strong> of each month at 8:30<\/strong>. Social Justice 2nd Wednesday Film Group<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Social Justice 2nd Wednesday Film Discussion group participants watch a documentary or movie at home dealing with issues around marginalized peoples.\u00a0 They then gather monthly to discuss the issues raised in the film or documentaries. Past films have examined issues of homelessness, racial and gender inequities, body image, differently abled, aging, and immigration. 2nd Wednesday Film Group,<\/strong> meets at 10:30, at Church of the Red Rocks to discuss the Netflix or YouTube film selected by the Social Justice Team.\u00a0 Films are announced in SUUF\u2019s newsletter, weekly emails, and on the website calendar.<\/p>\n
